| Most anesthetics have an immuno-suppressive effect on cellular and neurohumoral immunity, and research shows that total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol has a greater immuno-protective effect than inhalational anesthesia in human medicine. However, in veterinary clinics, these effects remain ambiguous. | The cryopreservation of ovarian tissues is a technology with significant potential for the preservation of the genetic resource materials of working dogs, including guide dogs for the blind. However, no attempt has been reported on cryopreservation of the canine ovary. Thus, we evaluated a vitrification method for cryopreservation of canine ovaries and determined the potential functionality of vitrified-warmed canine ovaries by means of transplantation into non-obese diabetic-severe combined immunodeficiency (NOD-SCID) mice. | Chondroitinase ABC (C-ABC) is expected to be a novel agent for chemonucleolysis. The effect of C-ABC was investigated by magnetic resonance (MR) and radiograph. C-ABC was administered into the lumbar intervertebral disks on the clinically normal beagles (n=5), in a dose of 50 μl (12.5 units as C-ABC). MR scans were performed pre-dose, and 1, 3, 7, 14 and 28 days after administration of C-ABC, and the signal intensity (SI) of the nucleus pulposus was measured. | To estimate the maternal effects of dog breeds using mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) haplotypes in the dogs with several clinical disorders, 600 base pairs of mtDNA D-loop region were amplified from 365 dogs and were determined for mtDNA sequences. The diversity of the 600-bp sequences was classified into 64 haplotypes, including 46 newly discovered haplotypes, and the haplotypes were grouped into four clusters I to IV. Lineage analysis using the mtDNA haplotype indicated that each dog breed genetically comprises one or a few mtDNA haplotypes. | Growth of the tumor autoinduced by 20-methylcholanthrene (MC) in rats was inhibited after administration of Toxoplasma lysate antigen (TLA). The antitumor activity of TLA was most obvious in the early stage of tumoral growth. When TLA was administered to rats before the appearance of tumor, tumor formation was delayed slightly. Histopathological studies revealed dense growths of spindle tumor cells in untreated control rat, while enlarged central necrosis with the infiltration of lymphocytes and neutrophils was apparent in TLA-treated rats. | To obtain B-mode ultrasound images of mammary glands in dairy heifers at different stages of growth, 25 clinically normal Holstein heifers were used. The heifers were divided into 5 groups (n=5/group) by stage of their growth: 2-month-old (group 1), 5-month-old (group 2), postpuberty (group 3), mid (group 4), and late (group 5) pregnancy. Furthermore, the sections of mammary glands were observed grossly at postmortem examination in one heifer in each group. Ultrasound images varied with the development of mammary glands. | In order to identify mechanisms responsible for the anti-tumor effects of Toxoplasma lysate antigen (TLA), we used an in vitro 51Cr release assay to study the functional properties of plastic-adherent cells during induction of splenic cytotoxic activity by TLA. Cytotoxic activity of non-adherent cells was measured in all experiments after a 6 days incubation. Induction of cytotoxic non-adherent cells by TLA required the presence of plastic-adherent spleen cells. In contrast, rhIL-2 alone was able to induce transformation of cytotoxic non-adherent cells from non-adherent spleen cells. | Spleen cells from Toxoplasma lysate antigen (TLA)-sensitized BALB/c mice showed the strong cytotoxic activity against both natural killer (NK)-sensitive cells (YAC-1 and RL♂-1) and NK-insensitive cells (P-815), when incubated with TLA or recombinant human IL-2 (rhIL-2). The increment of TLA concentration in culture medium increased the cytotoxic activity. | 下唇の腫脹と下顎リンパ節の腫脹を伴った1 2 歳のT 細胞型皮膚型リンパ腫のシーズー犬に対してロムスチン （CCNU）による治療を行ったが効果は認められなかった．そこで，1回4Gyを2日おきに計5回，総線量20Gyで放射 線治療を実施したところ，腫脹の軽減が認められた．その後，飼い主希望により，積極的な治療は行わなかったが，数 回の放射線治療のたびに，改善が認められた．最終的に下唇と下顎リンパ節の腫瘤が増大し，第234 病日に斃死した．We administered lomustine (CCNU) to a 12-year-old Shih Tzu with T-cell type cutaneous lymphoma with swelling of the lower lip and mandibular lymph node. | 三次元超音波検査法の小動物臨床への応用の可能性を探求するために，妊娠後期の6 歳 のビーグル犬に対して，腹部用三次元プローブを用いた三次元超音波検査法を出産まで数 日毎に行い，8 頭の胎子の顔を描出しようと試みた。胎子の顔の三次元超音波画像が全ての 検査日において少なくとも1 頭の胎子で得られたが，胎子が成長するにつれて良好な画像 を得るのは難しくなった。交配後43 日目ならびに45 日目では胎子の顔の鮮明な三次元画 像が容易に得られた。技術的に解決しなければならない問題がいくつか残されているもの の，適切に用いさえすれば，三次元超音波検査法は従来の二次元超音波検査法を補足する 方法として小動物臨床に応用可能であると考えられる。 This study was delineated to explore the possibility of using three-dimensional ultrasonography in small animal practice. | 分娩後5か月経過している2歳8カ月齢(症例1)および分娩後6か月経過している3歳0カ月齢(症例2) ホルスタイン種雌乳牛が、食欲不振、泌乳量減少、頻拍、心雑音、頚静脈怒張~拍動等の症状を呈し、循環器の疾患が疑われた。症例lでは心臓超音波検査によりまた症例2では病理検査にて心室中隔欠損が確認された。痩削、頚静脈拍動、頻脈などの循環器症状に加えて、心雑音の聴取をみた場合は、分娩後数カ月を経過した成牛であっても、心内膜炎のほかに心奇形も考慮し、診断には超音波検査を行うことが有効と考えられた。 |
